When vetting potential franchises in 2019, Heather and Grant Arnold knew they wanted to become small business owners, but they weren’t sure which industry would be best for their growing family. They had been looking into investing in a franchise for about a year and a half, but nothing seemed to be a good fit for them. During that time, they had their first child who eventually needed his first haircut. “I started looking online for somewhere to take him and discovered Pigtails & Crewcuts. This was the Arnold’s first time as small business owners. Heather’s background is in management, so she knew this would translate to small business ownership. She previously worked for an energy company and led a group of payroll coordinators. “I was a people manager, and the experience of managing a small group of employees has really helped me in developing my team and the staff in my salon.” Heather’s team at the Clermont location includes her manager, Melanie. Having a trusted manager and group of stylists in place, as well as creating a positive culture, allows the Arnolds the ability to run their location on a semi-absentee model.
They opened their salon in February of 2020, and unfortunately, had to close for a couple of months due to the pandemic. The Clermont salon was officially up and running by May of 2020 and has been experiencing great growth ever since.
