June 7, 2022, Atlanta, Georgia — Pigtails & Crewcuts: Haircuts for Kids is now open in Oklahoma City. The salon is located at 1001 West Memorial Road in the Ten01 West shopping center.
Owners Megan and Trevor Conklin discovered Pigtails & Crewcuts a few years ago and fell in love with the concept of a salon designed just for kids. After being customers at another location, they decided to bring the unique Pigtails & Crewcuts experience to their neighborhood.
“The salon looked clean and welcoming,” Megan recalls of her first impression with Pigtails & Crewcuts. “You could tell the stylists wanted to make it a great experience,” noting the vehicle-shaped chairs, bubbles, and movies as highlights of their first haircut experience with her oldest son.
“It took the stress off of me as a mom because the stylists are accommodating and know kids may not sit still or get scared when it’s time for a haircut. They took the time to make my son comfortable and that helped me relax. We are thrilled to create the same experience for other families and offer them a safe, clean place to bring their kids to for haircuts,” she continues.
The Conklins hope their salon helps transform the experience of getting a haircut from an errand to an event kids and parents alike will look forward to. In addition to vehicle-shaped chairs for younger customers, the salon is equipped with traditional chairs for bigger kids and parents. There are also movies, toys, video games, and a train table to keep kids entertained while they wait and during the haircut.
“Our oldest always looks forward to his sucker and a visit to the treasure chest,” the couple shares.
