Kim and Kourtney Green opened their first salon in Jacksonville, FL in May of 2022. The Greens both have a background in IT and had been considering business ownership for about five years before they started working with a coach to help them narrow down various opportunities. They knew they wanted to be business owners and had many conversations over the years before they decided to go for it. “We finally decided that a franchise would be the best way to go in starting that journey since we both did not have prior experience in owning a business,” says Kim. However, they soon found that there were so many franchise opportunities out there, so they determined that working with a franchise coach could help point them in the right direction based on what fit them best. When their coach presented options, Kim and Kourtney fell in love the with the Pigtails & Crewcuts brand for a number of reasons.
The Greens knew they wanted to open something where they could serve others in their community, and it was an added plus to provide a positive environment for children. “We love people,” Kourtney shares. “Service is a pleasure for us. We knew it was about giving haircuts, but our mission is to provide a fun and memorable environment for both parent and child alike. It is just another way to be able to connect with people and serve them.” They understood the need for something like this in their community because they encountered a challenging experience when their son got his first haircut at a barber shop. Pigtails & Crewcuts made perfect sense for them because it is a place where kids can have fun, and parents can be put at ease. “Being able to be a part of something that brings smiles to families and children… this was something that was really important to us,” says Kim.
The final step in the Green’s journey to business ownership was speaking with other owners in our system who enjoy our semi-absentee business model and excellent franchise support.
