The support we provide evolves through the age/stage of development of the franchisee. Pigtails & Crewcuts franchise support can be broken into two categories: initial and ongoing. Our expert team recognizes the differences between our franchisees, their current stage, and how and when to give a particular type of support. We tailor our support to the individual and their needs.
When new owners enter our system, they are immediately assigned a Franchise Support Specialist (FSS) who is their go-to person for all aspects of their business. The initial support given can be considered our “recipe” for getting a new franchisee into the role of business ownership. We give them an outline for success, including a week-long, hands-on, new franchisee training. This training includes discussions of marketing strategies, technology platforms, and how to attract, retain and incentivize staffing. Our FSS are also present during the first week of their salon opening. This initial support differs from ongoing support as we hold our new franchisees’ hands throughout the pre-opening and launch process. In the initial support stage, we establish a professional and trusting relationship with our new franchisees based on the foundation of fantastic initial support. We focus this support on the pre-opening steps and getting them through to their salon opening, when we begin to focus on getting our franchisees to profitability.
Our veteran franchisees continue to receive ongoing support from our franchise team. They still have a direct line to their assigned FSS. However, the “hand holding” stage has passed as most franchisees have grown to understand the basics of the business model. In this stage of a franchisee’s development, the support has shifted from more basic operational assistance to more business management assistance. It includes regular communications on staffing concerns, financial management, marketing suggestions and ongoing operations issues. We send constant brand communications, quarterly updates from our CEO, and monthly emails from our VP of Franchise Support. These communications include updates on specific projects, YTD system and individual salon financial performance. Our job at this stage is to maintain a healthy brand and continue to strengthen our relationship with our veteran franchisees. We also provide guidance and motivation when necessary.
The veteran owner will have different discussions with their FSS on Key Performance Indicators and their EBITDA, which are critical when understanding progress and business growth. Once a franchisee has a good grasp on the health of their business, they may decide that it is time to expand and open additional locations. The goal for the Pigtails & Crewcuts support team is that our franchisees are successful, maximizing profits, developing their business, and knowing that we are here to support them in all stages of business ownership.
